Welcome Babycakes!

Yesterday, Destiny Rae was born to my neice, Angie. She woke up on Thursday morning with swollen up legs all the way up to her hips. Apparently Destiny was resting on her lymph nodes or something. Anyhow, you can see why, when I called Angie earlier in the week she said, "I'm as big as a house, Aunt Barbara!" She was, poor thing.

Here is the expectant family waiting for everything to begin: Angie, Kaiden, and Ryan (Daddy). Note that they all look pretty much awake and alert. It didn't last for long!

When finally Destiny was born, Great-GrandDaddy carried Kaiden to the window so he could get his first look through the glass as Destiny was getting dressed. (I just love this picture!) Destiny was 7 lbs., 7 oz., and 20 inches long, with lots of black hair.
And finally Kaiden gets a closer look at his sister. He's wearing a button on his shirt that says, "I'm the Big Brother!"

He thinks he'll keep her, and gives her a kiss. I think he likes her. Be still my heart!

But he is still a little boy who is tired and needs a nap. And he still needs to know his mother loves him. She does, and he got a nap.

Angie is holding court today with all of the extended family buzzing about, holding Destiny and Ryan is sound asleep in the back bedroom. Grampa has run out to get dinner and diapers. Grandma is overseeing everything and trying to keep the extended family entertained. Great-GrandDaddy is reading a book to Kaiden to keep him occupied. So the circle of life carries on. Welcome, little Destiny Rae!
