Still Here

Well...I'm sure stranger things have happened, but not to me.
Sam went off to work this morning as I dashed about cleaning cupboards and scrubbing out the showers, etc. He came rushing home from work at noon and after a bite to eat, we went out and brought the moving truck back with us.
I carefully coached Sam to back the 26 foot monster into the driveway and then came inside. The phone rang. It was our realtor telling us that our escrow has been extended till Thursday. Someone failed to check a little box and there we are: $2000 poorer and all our clothes and personal items packed up. Not to mention our dishes, bedding--everything except the TV packed up.
After raging about this, we signed the requisite papers and returned the truck. Thank goodness there was no charge for it. We got the phone, internet, electricity and Direct TV all extended to the end of the week. Furniture and appliance deliveries on hold. Called Sam's brothers and told them we aren't going to move tonight.
Well, here we are.

I guess I will have to get those articles written now. There is no excuse: I have two outfits that aren't packed up and nothing else but my computer and the couch.

On a more serious note, it dawned on me that God wants us to be able to roll with the punches. What we have here--furniture, timetables, details, take-out food or home-cooked--these do not really mean anything in the larger picture. It's how well we obey and follow our Lord, whether what has happened is coincidental or by a larger plan.
So as we go to bed in our curtainless house tonight, we will thank God for all that has happened and trust that whatever is going on is no surprise to Him.
I'll sleep like a baby tonight!

Moving

Just a quick note--we are moving today! Sam has gone to work and I'm here pulling the last things together before we go. I'm finding that there are lots of little cupboards and crannies that haven't been emptied yet. Also have to take down curtains and pack up the birdfeeders, etc. I'll be packing up the car and pulling everything together so when Sam gets here, we'll be ready to load the truck. Thank goodness for in-laws! My brother-in-law and our nephew will be helping us get moved. So it will be a long day.

On another note, Sam's father went into the hospital last night with what looks to have been a TIA (transient ischemic attack), a mini-stroke. His right side was paralyzed. Fortunately, his speech and orientation were not affected. Today he has a scheduled bone scan because his PSA (prostate cancer indicator) is very high. His doctor must be concerned that he has metastases. So please say a prayer for him and for my mother-in-law. Poor thing, as she was leaving the hospital last night she locked her keys in the car. AAA said they would be there within 75 minutes. As I told her, I'm glad she wasn't hanging by her thumbs for that time!

When it rains, it pours. But for now, we are both grateful to have the opportunity--after all these years of saving and being frugal--of buying a home we really like.
I'll be back after we get settled. Have a good week.
