Places not to visit

Someone asked me the other day if I'd like to go to China for a visit. Without hesitation, I declined. There are a number of places in the world that I have no desire whatsoever to go--and this is one of them. It could be some internalized ethnocentrism or hidden prejudice of mine, but there are places that I don't want to ever visit. Here they are:
1. China
2. Japan
3. Any other Asian country
4. Russia
5. much of Eastern Europe
6. Hawaii
7. Indonesia
8. India
9. Iceland
10.Turkey
11.The Holy Lands region
12. The Gobi desert
13. The Sahara
14. The South Pacific
15. South America

So where DO I want to visit?
1. UK
2. Ireland
3. Western and Central Europe
4. Scandinavia
5. Puerto Rico
6. Bahamas
7. Jamaica
8. Alaska
9. Banff
8. Glacier National park
9. Park City, Utah
10. Anywhere in Canada

Perhaps this list reflects the changes in adventure that I have as I get older. I would have probably jumped at the opportunity to go abroad just about anywhere when I was in my 20s. Now, the inevitable has happened: I want to stay close to home for awhile. Amazing.

We're going to India at spring break, on a mission venture. Didn't think I'd every go back there. Never say never!
