Good book

Two weeks ago while I was at Grief Camp, I read most of a book that has been a mind-stretching experience. The Faith Club is written by a Muslim, Jew, and Christian. It is the chronicle of their conversations as the result of their original goal to write a children's book about their religions. Instead, they formed a spiritual support group that they maintained for several years. They recorded many of their conversations, and recreated moments of ideological and cultural exchanges.

I was fascinated to read of the way they asked the hard and awkward questions of each other. Reflecting on their responses to one another, I wondered how I might represent all of Christendom, as one of the women did. The comments of the Jewish and Muslim women still ring in my head. I shall probably not think of these religions in the same way ever again. This book is a must-read.

The Faith Club. Idliby, Oliver & Warner (2007).
