A couple years ago, I woke up to find snow rollers all over the hillsides around my house. These giant, tumbling snowballs, were the product of high winds and wet snow. They are formed during only very specific (and rare) weather patterns. All of the wide open spaces in town were littered with giant balls of snow. Snow rollers can be as small as a beer can and as large as a travel trunk, depending on wind velocity. The one in this picture is about the size of a basketball. It's just another of nature's interesting phenomena.
